What's happening at Diamond.
We recently made a trek to southern Wyoming to perform a laser scan for an industrial client (biofuel provider). Because our office is located in Salt Lake City, Utah, the drive to Wyoming is short and well within reason for our survey crew - although we travel the western united states regularly (including Hawaii). Our industrial client in this project was purchasing these boilers to be shipped to their facility in the Eastern United States. Prior to the shipment, Diamond Land Surveying provided a laser scan and point cloud delivery for use following delivery of their newly purchased equipment. The object of the scan was to create a precise model of the boiler for the contractor. When the boilers are delivered the contractor can take the scan data to accurately put the piece of equipment back together with the highest degree of confidence. We perform scans for industrial clients on a regular basis. Read >
Here's something fresh from the surveying field. Every once in a while you have the chance to see an animal take a shot at running the survey equipment. This is especially the case with curious horses... The image in the post comes from a pasture in Woods Cross, Utah - just north of Salt Lake City. While performing a boundary survey for a commercialclient. This horse decided to take a close look at the total station and even gave some of the straps a test bite! Luckily neither the horse nor the equipment were harmed in the filming of this incident! Read >
How do surveyors help land owners purchase property from their neighbor's? When you and neighbor agree to buy or sell a portion property there's a simple process that needs to take place to make it official with the Salt Lake County Recorder's Office. While a simple shake of the hand and exchange of money might seal the deal there's a simple process that needs to take place before the state will recognize the ownership change - this includes the creation and recording of a deed, along with an updated legal description. From the surveyors standpoint, our help comes in performing a residential boundary surveyand then updating the legal description. The images in this post are related to a recent land transaction in Salt Lake City. We assisted the homeowner in recording the purchase of land from their neighbor. We performed the boundary survey and updated the legal description to include their newly purchased land. Once the client has the purchase recorded with the county (using the updated plat we created in the survey process) we can return to the site and establish permanent marks that indicate property ownership lines. Two local Diamonds make a single survey. Diamond Land Surveying recently completed the commercial survey of Black Diamond Equipment's headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. Adrenaline junkies are familiar with this global outdoor equipment company - maker of climbing, skiing and outdoor products. This progressive company is located a few miles west of the Wasatch Mountains and a short drive from our home office. This project was met with some extra enthusiasm, since most of our staff are avid outdoor or sporting enthusiasts - we were hoping that Black Diamond would secretly give us some of their newest products to demo while performing our survey (no such luck!).
